About Us

Our mission is to safeguard the wildlife of Aklavik while preserving the traditional practices of hunting and trapping that have been passed down through generations. The committee plays a crucial role in supporting local hunters and trappers, providing resources, education, and a unified voice in wildlife management and conservation efforts.

The Hunters & Trappers Committee of Aklavik was established in 1982 by a group of dedicated community members who recognized the need for organized wildlife management and conservation. The committee was formed to ensure that traditional hunting and trapping practices could continue sustainably and responsibly.

For over four decades, the HTC Aklavik has been a vital part of the community, working tirelessly to balance the needs of wildlife conservation with the cultural and economic importance of hunting and trapping. The committee's efforts have ensured that these practices can be sustained for future generations.
